Payment struggels and collection

Hi all,

we have problems with the payment via Stripe. We use it to collect the money but a few users of our makerspace delete their creditcard and we do not get any information about it.
Does anyone have a solution for that? We write a lot of emails regarding this problem to our users to keep their payment up to date.

Furthermore a lot of payments need to be authorized manually by the user. They sometimes get a push message from their bank but often not, so they dont know that the payment doesn’t went threw. With the same user the payment workds twice and the thrid time not and than it works once again automatically. That is really annoying.
All that means a lot of work for us to call and mail the users to pay their bills or renew their payment cards.
Does anyone of you have the same problems or any solution? Is that a problem with stripe or is it with the Bank? Can a user inform their bank to let the payment go threw everytime?

Thanks,
Johanna

This is a “feature” that banks, card companies, and payment service providers introduced several years ago as part of PSD2 to make online payments more secure.

In short: there is no 100% guarantee on merchant-initiated transactions anymore. They might work for a while and then require user authorization again, based on the bank’s risk assessment. (And most payments through Fabman are merchant-initiated, so there is not much we can do about this.)

Fabman is designed send users an email whenever a payment requires them to re-authenticate the transaction. If you have a case where that did not happen, please send us a support request with more details and I’ll look into it.

Of course, decades of phishing attacks have taught people to never click on links in such emails – which is a fundamental design flaw in the PSD2 payment process.
