Is your product compatible with a magnetic card reader?

Hello,
I am on a team from the University of Maryland researching a potential machine lock-out/makerspace solution for our machine shops. The university uses ID cards with magnetic stripes and swipe card readers. Are these able to be integrated with the Fabman system so our users could swipe their ID to access the machine instead of the NFC reader?

Hey Ashlyn,

generally yes, but it would involve creating you own bridges and using our bridge API, so it’s not trivial.

The easiest way to get started is probably a Raspberry Pi and the raspi-fabman package by Happylab Wien.
